Our Beliefs

About God

God is the Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer of the universe.  He has eternally existed in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  These three are co-equal and are one God.  We believe that God is involved in and cares about our personal lives and we will strive to develop a personal relationship with God.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV)

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  He was sent from the Father to enter into human history.  Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross.  He was proven to be the Son of God when God raised Him from the dead on the third day, victorious over both sin and death.  After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to many witnesses during a period of forty days before ascending into Heaven’s glory.  He will return again to earth to consummate human history and to reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.  By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the Word I preached to you.  Otherwise, you have believed in vain.  For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve.  After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.  Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.” 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 (NIV)

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is God’s living presence with us in the world.  He draws people to God through Christ, convincing them of their need for a Savior.  He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation.  He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.  He equips every believer with spiritual gifts and abilities which they are called to dedicate to the service of God.  As Christians, we seek to live each day under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Now the Lord is the spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)

About the Bible

The Bible is God’s Word.  It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.  It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.  Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)

About Human Beings

Humans are made in the image of God, to be like Him in character and with the capacity for moral decision making and personal relationships.  Human beings are the supreme object of God’s creation.  Although every human has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by attitudes and actions of disobedience toward God (sin).  These behaviors separate us from God and each other.  We have no ability to remedy this situation on our own.

God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27 (NIV)

About Salvation

Salvation is forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God and the promise of eternal life.  A person comes into a right relationship with God by His grace through our faith in Jesus Christ.  Salvation comes as God’s gift to us, but we must accept it.  Those accepting Christ must repent of their sin, confess their faith, and be baptized by immersion as a testimony of their faith in Jesus Christ.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”   Romans 6:23 (NIV)

About Eternal Security

God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ and the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity.  Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our lives by faith.  If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot “lose” it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian.  It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.  My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s Hand.” John 10:27-29 (NIV

About Eternity

Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.  Heaven offers us an experience that centers on love and fellowship with God and with all of the redeemed of all the ages.  God sent His Son to provide a means of grace for every person.  Heaven is based on our reconciliation with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.  Those who reject God’s grace are eternally separated from Him and are destined to live in Hell for eternity.  It is God’s desire that every person live eternally in Heaven through His grace which is given freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”  John 14:2 (NIV)
